HGV driving time calculator (EU 561/2006)
Enter the distance and average speed; see when the truck can arrive once the mandatory breaks and rests are counted.
How it is calculated
After 4.5 hours of driving the driver takes a 45-minute break. A day has at most 9 hours of driving (10 hours on two days a week if you allow it), followed by 11 hours of rest.
After 56 hours of driving in a week, or six working days, comes a 45-hour weekly rest.
A 10-hour day is used only when it lets the truck finish that day instead of resting overnight.
Assumptions
- One driver. Double-manning, split breaks and reduced rests are not used, so the estimate is on the cautious side.
- Loading, unloading, borders, customs, ferries and traffic are not included.
- On long trips also check the 90-hour limit over two weeks.
