HS code lookup
Type the product name in English, or a code you know; see the matching chapters, headings and commodity codes.
How it is calculated
The first 6 digits of an HS (Harmonized System) code are the same in every country. The UK uses 10 digits, the EU 8 (CN) and Türkiye 12 (GTİP); the digits after the sixth are national.
Results come from the UK Trade Tariff. For another country, confirm the national digits and the duty rate in that country’s tariff.
Assumptions
- Source: GOV.UK Trade Tariff API (Open Government Licence v3.0); results are kept for 24 hours.
- This is not a binding classification; ask your customs broker, or apply for a binding tariff ruling.
Questions
Is an HS code the same everywhere?
The first 6 digits are; the rest are national subdivisions.
What should I search for?
A plain product name in English works best, for example “olive oil” or “bicycle tyres”.
