Truck waiting time (demurrage) calculator
Enter how long the vehicle waits, the free days and the daily rates; see the chargeable days and the total.
How it is calculated
Chargeable days = days waiting − free days. The first-tier days are charged at the first rate, any further days at the second.
Assumptions
- Count the days the way your contract does (calendar or working days, whether the day of arrival counts).
- Enter the rates in one currency; the result is in that currency.
Questions
What is truck demurrage?
A charge the carrier makes when its vehicle is held longer than agreed at loading, unloading or a border, because it cannot take other work meanwhile.
What is the difference between demurrage and detention for containers?
Demurrage is a full container staying at the terminal beyond its free time; detention is the container kept outside the terminal, at the customer, beyond its free time.
